Artist comments: Phew!!! Animating this took days! Plus I missed to add shadows. I actually had to remove some animated details after I made them because it was too much for so few frames (35) and I might end up redoing this when I have more time, adding more frames so I can spread out everything that happens, but this will have to do for now. :) I think I did well on the main intent of making a world totally alien to ours, that made both Cedrick and his horse Sky stop mid stride in bewilderment.)

Rider: Cedrick
Dragon Tack:
Formal Dragon Tack by Coplins

Prelude: 3 years ago he had woken up in a strange world, racked in pain with a pair of big brown eyes peering down curiously on him. Helena, the owner of the Coplins Establishments had taken him and his best friend in, no questions asked, given them room and work and helped care for their medical issues. (Truth to be told, she always asked what seemed like an endless stream of questions, she just was not so particular about what the answers were.) The first two years Ced had been so crippled by pain it made focussing on anything other than the pain very hard. The last year the pain had subsided, leaving Ced to ponder how he could fall unconcious in one world, badly wounded in a skirmish and then wake up safe in an other. He had taken to wearing his normal type of clothing again. Although being dressed like a midevial knight in Sweden 2013 did catch attention from people at first. Wearing his old type of garments made him feel comfortable and he wore them with such ease and confidence that everyone accepted it as natural. As the pain left him he became aware of another dull ache that was harder and harder to ignore. He tried very hard to ignore the feelings that stirred in both body and soul when he met the gaze of his employer. Denying them did not make them go away so he threw himself into any tasks that would remove him from her vicinity. He ended up spending most time with the farm's horses. Training them, teaching the most dedicated of the stablegirls the art of warbased dressage. Of course, these girls knew nothing of mounted warfare nor did they consider the high schools as ways of honing the horse into a lethal weapon.  He was not bothered by their naive outlook. He found it a comfort that such skills no longer was seen as anything worse than displays of grace and beauty from magnificient beasts.
His great work with the horses did not go unnoticed and he was given a Nordanner stallion to train and work with as if it was his own. Helena had mentioned that they were supposed to be used in dragon hunts and laughted about it. Since "dragons did not exsist". He had seen 3 in his life so laughter was not his reaction. Instead a feeling of hope flared in him. The very exsistence of magic was totally denied in this world he had ended up in, but in the horse society there proved to be some sub groups where magic wasn't denied, it was taken for granted. This is how he found this show he was travelling to now.....

Arrival: Each team was given a crystal that would work partly as a transportation device, but first and foremost as a key to open portals back to the world where they came from. A Gate Keeper, a cattish elflike female named Fate handed out the crystals. When it was time for him to recieve his she said "You can just hand over yours and I'll key it to this world." It made his head spin in panick. "I don't have one!" he exclaimed. "Don't be silly human, I know you are not of this world." Fate retorted with the indignant impatience shared by cats and elves alike. "If I may have a world in private I can explain." Cedrick said. Fate waved him aside from the others and let him talk, wearing a very stern expression on her face. The expression melted away as he told her just about everything. Even the strange part of how Helena had written a book about his life despite them living in different worlds and other seemingly insignificant details of how Ced, his horse (not the nordanner he had been given) and his best friend ended up on her property as they fell unconcious and presumably dying in their world. The gate keeper now wore a expression of concern. "It is possible for fixed portals to exist. And it is possible that a living being can be the vessel for the key. Most portals are fluently, slowly shifting or constantly moving. Some you have to seek out, others come at your bidding if you have a key. A portal locked in a fixed position will always cringe, trying to get free. This can cause small cracks which results in fragments leaking in or out of worlds. Creative humans are like magnets for these leaks. It will influence their chosen arts. If Helena paints and writes and has in fact written about you and your friends lives then she might have been bombarded with leaks from a broken portal fixed in position. Then she would be the key. I can help you free her from that as such thing can drive a human or even an elf mad. When you come back to return the crystal I will give you 4 smaller christals, small enough to make jewellry out of..." "Why 4?" Ced interfered and was rewarded with a mean glare in return. Cat indeed! he though. "Four," Fate continued slightly annoyed "for all involved with the transistion between worlds. One for you, your friend, your horse and your employer." Her voice became lecturing. " these crystals you will get have been prepped to be used as portal keyes, but they have not yet been keyed to a portal. One can describe them as magnets. They will start channeling portal magic into themselves once they are in close contact with their bearers, preferable on bare skin. First they will drain portal energy out of the carrier if he or she has been taken as a vessel, then it will key it'sf to the closest portals to the closest worlds. It's a bit more complicated than that but I'll explain further when you get back, now here's your crystal for the show!"
Cedrick hung a large dark reddish pink chrystal around his neck and after some instructions he and Sky stood on another side of a portal, yet again in a new world, but this one vastly different than the two previous he had experienced.

Beyond the Portal: At first when the portal closed behind them they were a bit at loss of what to do. They stood on a tiny island covered in soft grass the colour of golden and yellow ochra. It felt more like hair than grass. The sky was somewhere between yellow and lime green. All around was water. Or a wet substance atleast. The water was the colour of raspberry juice and a had an odd sweet but vaguely unpleasent smell. Sky sniffed it cautiously, then he snorted and waded straight in. It was not extremely deep. The liquid reached Sky halfway up his chest and Sky waded rather than swam until they came upon another bigger island. This one had uneven rounded shapes and vegetation grew on it. It looked as if it was made by solid moss, or really fine hard sponge, greenish yellow in colour. Like a bruise in healing Ced thought to himself.
It wasn't as solid as it looked they discovered when Sky heaved himself up on what passed as a beach. Every footstep he took left deep hoofprints that filled up with the raspberry coloured liquid. The pink colour clung to both horse, rider and tack wherever they had gotten wet. They did not venture far in on this island before sheer fascination stopped them dead in their tracks. They weren't even aware they stopped.
Pretty bushes covered in dark purple leaves dotted the island unevenly. Large multicoloured long stemmed mushrooms almost as high as a man had green glowing liquid clinging to and inbetween it's gills. Ced could see a giand stick insect, or rather toadstool insect sitting very still on it. All over the island grew tube shaped.... well, Ced wasn't sure if they were mushrooms or plants. But green tubes that produced a milky pink creamy liquid that dripped, dribbled or nearly gushed out of them. It's scent was sweetly delicious and countered the fainly rancid smell of the huge mushrooms. Odd beakless birds with tiny tiny wings flew to the green tubes and used their snouts as a straw to drink out of them. One landed on Ced's palm making odd bubbly noises and waved it's snout at him.
A small raspberry coloured brook started in a hole in the island's high point and fishes climbed upward in it, let go and were washed down, only to climb upward again. At the bottom of the brook-fall a cute furbally critter took a shower, chirping happily in what must be some form of singing. Another one stood by keeping watch. It's gaze did not leave Sky and Ced for a moment. There were odd one legged bowl shaped frogs everywhere. They seemed to be carnivorous, but Ced could not discern what they caught.
Sky caught a droplet of the sweet pink tube liquid on his tongue. It tasted to good he even had to close his eyes in enjoyment.
The birdling that had landed on Ced decided to travel with them during the next 5 days when they explored. There seemed to be endless opportunities for new types of enviroments in this world.  Despite some dangerous encounters they had thuroughly enjoyed themselves. They would have loved to stay and explore but a memory of big brown eyes looking at him with the glitter of a smile decided Ced. It was time to turn home for a while atleast. He was glad he got the chance to see this though. And with him he brought the four crystals as Fate had promised him. Maybe he eventually could travel back to him own world... Would he want to?
